Donna D. Vaughn, 78 of Champaign died at 12:50am Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Piatt County nursing home, Monticello.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, February 12 at Morgan Memorial Home, 1304 Regency Drive West, Savoy. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm Monday, February 11 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Vaughn was born on August 10, 1940 in Champaign, the daughter of Richard and Lois Martin Young. She married the love of her life, George Vaughn on November 8, 1959 in Champaign.

She is survived by three daughters; Vicki (Alan) Halberstadt of Champaign, Pam (Marty) Joop of Mahomet and Julie (Chuck) Twombly of Mahomet, four granddaughters; Mackenzie Joop, Sarah Halberstadt, Celeste Twombly and Hallie Twombly.

She was preceded in death by her husband George, her brother Bobby, and her parents.

Donna and her husband George owned Dick Young Electric in Champaign for over 25 years. They both retired in July 1999. She worked with George the last 15 years as the bookkeeper and office manager. They were always a team, supporting each other in everything in life.

Donna and George were life long members of Cornerstone Baptist Church, Champaign, formerly Garden Hills Baptist Church. She served on many committees including hospitality, baptismal, as well as teaching vacation bible school every summer all through the years of her children and grandchildren.

After retirement, Donna and George enjoyed the winter months in the sunny, warm climate of Gulf Shores, Alabama. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, walking on the beach, gathering seashells and spending time at their second home church. They were active at Orange Beach Baptist Church, enjoying services, fellowship and weekly bible studies.
Donna loved supporting world missions, including the organization World Vision where over the past 12 years they sponsored a young girl named Gollie, from Malawi, Africa.

She loved spending time with her girls, her granddaughters and her extended family playing games, cards and making memories. She enjoyed fellowship with her Women’s bible study, WMU, Women of Faith Conferences and more. Donna was rooted in the church and remained committed to sharing her story, her faith with others wherever she went.
