Hugh Kevin McDonald passed away peacefully at home on Saturday January 12, 2019.

He was born on November 28, 1950 in Albany, NY to Hugh McDonald and Dorothy McDonald.

He was a graduate of Voorheesville High School. He also attended Hudson Valley Community College where he obtained his associates degree.

Hugh was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War and served for four years in the United States Navy. He served as an enlisted aircraft sailor, second class petty officer grade E-4 on the U.S.S. Coral Sea and earned the following awards; National Defense Service Metal, Meritorious Unit Commendation “AIRTEVRON FOUR”, and Presidential Unit Citation.

After his honorable discharge, Hugh worked for Hyland Group LLC for 40 years and was a pioneer in the cable T.V. and fiber optic industry. Hugh’s work ethic and commitment to his team was unparalleled and he considered the many friends he worked with to be family.

Hugh is survived by his wife of 38 years, Deborah McDonald (Hodgkinson), his son, John McDonald, his daughter, Rosemary (Zachary) Patterson, his granddaughter, Olivia Rose Patterson, his mother, Dorothy McDonald, sister Maureen Alonzo, brother John (Tamara) McDonald and many loving family members and friends. His father and his sister, Dorothy McDonald, predeceased him.
