Source of information is the New Brigden local history book called "From Buffalo Chips to Natural Gas" pages 235-239.

His father was Peter Herron - he had been bedridden for seven years. After his passing, his wife and family moved to Sounding Creek to farm. Bob was about 16 years old at the time. He married Myrtle in 1925.

Obituary in the Calgary Herald dated December 2, 1980 on page 16 (paraphrased):
Robert Melvin Herron, 82, of New Brigden, passed away at the Glenmore Auxillary Hospital in Calgary, Alberta. He is the beloved husband of Myrtle Herron of Calgary. He is survived by one son Melvin of New Brigden; three daughters, Darleen Wagstaff of Sedalia, Kathleen (Kay) Munroe of Calgary and Reatha Hanson of New Brigden. Robert was born at Pincher Creek, Alberta on October 27, 1898. He worked in the printing business and moved to the Esther district with his parents in 1914. He farmed and owned the General Store in New Brigden from 1938 to 1963.
