Elsie Mae Wrenn Jenkins, age 92, of Lexington passed away Monday morning, February 4, 2019 at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington.
A funeral service will be held 2 pm Tuesday, February 12 at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Scott and Rev. Dan Lewiston. Entombment will follow at Rowan Memorial Park in Salisbury, NC. Visitation with family and friends will be held 12:30 to 1:30pm prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Jenkins was born in Davidson County on January 16, 1927 to Carl Franklin Wrenn and Bessie Owen Wrenn. She retired from Duracell after 26 years and was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. She enjoyed many hobbies including Duracell’s Summer Fun Bowling League and Senior Rollers at the J Smith Young YMCA, where she also served as secretary of the league for 25 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald Cadell Jenkins in March 19, 1985, daughter, Gail Lewiston in February 4, 2009, son, Carl Jenkins in July 22, 1980; sisters, Arlene Holbrook and Grace Owens.
Surviving are her daughters, Barbara Byerly (Roy) of Lexington, Debbie Williams (Tim) of Linwood, NC; son-in-law, Ted Lewiston (China) of Bellevue, NE, daughter-in-law, Tina Jenkins of Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren, Dan Lewiston (Jen) of Winchendon, MA, Kris Jenkins of Lexington, Phil Lewiston (fiancé Amy Swoboda) of Lincoln, NE, Nate Lewiston (Sarah) of Bellevue, NE, Kevin Byerly (Cindy) of Advance, Trent Byerly (Katie Beth) of Lexington; great-grandchildren, Isaiah Lewiston, Isabella Mae Lewiston, Ian Lewiston, Kayne Byerly, Dillon Byerly, Brandon Byerly, Garrett Byerly; great-great-grandson, Mason Byerly; sister, Connie Wrenn Hamby.
