Harold died at age 83, from complications from surgery for a broken hip. He also suffered from dementia and Parkinson's.

He married later in life, after the age of fifty. He was survived by his four step children.

Harold was born in Coopers, Georgia and served in the 380th Air Squadron in Great Britain and Germany during World War Two. He was a Sergeant.

He had graduated from Midway vocation High school, and after the war worked at the Naval Ordinance plant in Macon, Ga., and later at Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, Ga. After retirement, he worked as a watchmen for the City of Macon, and for Bibb County.

Loud noises such as thunder brought on migraines all of his adult life, associated with memories of the bombs that dropped on England when he was stationed there during the war.
