She was born on November 8, 1916 to William Ernest & Anna Lee (Taylor) Brinton near Agency. Ruth grew up & attended school near Agency. In 1934 she graduated from Agency High School.
On April 10, 1940 she was united in marriage to William Frederick Allen. After their marriage they farmed near Gower where they made their home. In 1975 her husband preceded her in death and in 1994 Ruth moved to Gower.
Ruth work at Nelly Don in St. Joseph. She was a member of the Gower Christian Church where she was baptized in December 1949. She was also a member of the Gower 39er's, the Friendly Circle Club and the Jolly Helper's Club. Her most fascinating hobby was bridge and she was a member of the Bid and Bye Bridge Club in Gower.
Ruth was also preceded in death by her parents and two sons, Paul Lee Allen (#44142209) in 1981 and Harold Frederick Allen in 1994.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Annabell Allen, Liberty; who she maintained a special relationship with, her identical twin sister, Ruby Marcella DeVore, Agency; two grandchildren, William Frederick Allen and wife, Rachel, and Jacqueline Ann Butcher and husband, Brian, five great-grandchildren, Monica Lynn Allen, Ruth Elizabeth Allen, William Fredrick Allen, Joshua Lynn Butcher, and Samantha Harley Butcher, special caregivers, Marcella and Darrell Fortner, several nieces, nephews, and cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 5, 2001 at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower with burial at Allen Cemetery.
