Marcus Allen Smith, 48, of East Peoria passed away at 12:10 am Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at his residence with his mother by his side. He was born January 29, 1971 in Peoria the son of Robert and Cathy Bortolussi Smith. Marcus is survived by his mother, Cathy Smith of East Peoria; his father, Robert Smith of Oregon; one son, Jared Allen Smith of East Peoria; companion and friend, Stacy Knickerbocker Strum of Metamora; one sister, Michelle (Tom) Dean of Wisconsin; one grandmother, Marjorie Smith of Chillicothe; one niece, Emily Dean of Chicago; and one nephew, Matthew Dean of S. Carolina. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Owen Smith; and his maternal grandparents, Lena and Albert Bortolussi. Marcus was an instrument tech at Ameren until his retirement. One of his fondest memories was his time on the river at Sharon’s house. Marcus loved spending time with his son, Jared and his beloved cats. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm, Friday, February 8, 2019 at Remmert Funeral Home. Cremation rites will be accorded. Memorials may be made to a fund for his son Jared.
