Obituary

Darla Jean "Doll" Jones, 60, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 3, 2019, at her residence. Darla was born in Belzoni, Mississippi, on July 25, 1958, to Eugene E. and Lillian A. Jones. She was a lifelong resident of Belzoni.

Darla was known by "Doll" by most family and friends. She was a Baptist and a member of First Baptist Church of Belzoni. She was also a retired State of Mississippi employee serving with the Department of Health for 37 years before retiring as Office Manager for the Humphreys County office in 2015.

Even though in 1996 she had a life changing accident. She never let her disability slow her down. She was still enjoyed her trips to WalMart, shopping with her nephews and great nieces , and going to the State fair and rodeo. She especially enjoyed the play dates with her and great niece had.

Darla is preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Lillian Jones, half-sister Shirley Hickman and half-brothers, Gene Jones Jr. and Tommy Jones.

Left to cherish her memory are her brother William Travis (Debbie) Jones of Belzoni, half-Fred (Patsy) Jones of Slidell, Louisiana, her nephews, Steven Jones of Brandon and Jeffery (Lindsey Jones of Belzoni. She also leaves behind two special nieces that loved she loved with all her heart, Kaylin Jones and Kallie Jones of Belzoni. She also leaves may half nieces and nephews and many friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday February 5, 2019, from 6 PM to 8 PM at Mortimer Funeral Home in Belzoni. Services will be held on February 6, 2019 at First Baptist Church in Belzoni with visitation staring a 1 PM with service to follow at PM. Brother Greg Clemts and Brother George Johnson will officiate the service

Serving as Pallbearers will be Charles Blakely, James Lewis, John Overby, Wayne Walker, Junior Lewis, and Royce Steed. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Micheal Winkelmann, Dr. Mack Gorton, and Dr. Carlton Gorton.

The family would like to thank Dr. Micheal Winkelmann, Dr. Charles Hall, Dr. Jason Blalock, Dr. Mack Gorton, Dr. Carlton Gorton and the staff at Continue Care for talking care of her for all the years since her accident.
