Steven Francis Owens, age 37 of Fate, TX, passed away February 2, 2019. He was born April 17, 1981, in Garland, TX, to Paul Francis Owens and Rosa Bell (Foster) Owens.
Steven graduated from Poteet High School in Mesquite, TX, in 1999. He studied electrical engineering at Southern Methodist University and obtained his Juris Doctorate at Samford University in Birmingham, AL. Steven enjoyed his career as a U.S. patent attorney and worked at Merchant & Gould in Knoxville, TN. He was a member of the State Bar of Texas as well as the State Bar of Tennessee. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Rockwall.
Steven is survived by his loving wife: Colby Owens, son: Sim Francis Owens (age 3), and daughter: Coralee Ruth Owens (age 1), all of Fate, TX; parents: Paul and Rosa Owens of Greenville, TX; grandmother: Minnie Bowen of Greenville, TX; sister: Cherie Owens-Dejoie and husband Roy of Lafayette, IN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Sim Francis Owens Jr., Kathleen Butler Owens, and J.W. Foster.
Funeral services will be held 1:00pm, Friday, February 8, 2019, at First United Methodist Church, 1200 E. Yellow Jacket Lane in Rockwall with Dr. Joe Pool officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Wolfe City, TX.
