Schaffer, Beverly - ALBANY - Beverly Schaffer, 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 1, 2017, with her family by her side. She was daughter of the late Carl and Janette Frazier of Sharpsville, Pa. She was the wife of the late Casper E. Schaffer. Beverly was born in Sharpsville, and moved to Albany after her marriage. In 2015, she moved to Hague, N.Y., to be closer to her family. During World War II, Beverly worked for the U.S. War Department, U.S. Navy. Following that she worked for the New York State Department of Education in Albany. She was a devoted member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Albany for many years. Beverly is survived by her three sons, James Schaffer (Sherrie), Thomas Schaffer (Charlene), Craig Schaffer (Sharon) of Wake Forest, N.C. She is also survived by her grandchildren, James, Meghan, Kristen, Aleta, Timothy, Melissa; and 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m. at New Comer Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 6, 2017, 10 a.m. at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 160 Central Ave., Albany, NY 12206. Interment will follow the service at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, or the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
