Mr. Phillips was born on July 29, 1946 in Harrisonburg, and was the son of the late Ernest Everette and Pearl Frances Phillips. He was a pastor preaching in both the Methodist and Brethren congregations. He also did evangelist work in the United States and abroad. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
On January 27, 1965, he married the former Emma Rebecca Hostetter who survives.
Also surviving are three children, Lee Phillips and wife Shelly of Atlanta, Georgia; E. Brian Phillips of Springhill, Florida; Rebecca J. Myers of Pennsylvania; and four grandchildren.
Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by an infant son, James Ray Phillips, a daughter, Michele Pruett and one brother and two sisters.
Pastor Wayne Wright will conduct a funeral service on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 11 a.m. at McMullen Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
