Cleo R. Howard, 85, died Saturday, March 12, 2005, in Richardson, Texas. The daughter of Eula (Graham) and Bob Reddell, she was born on May 22, 1919, in Cedar Gap, Texas in Taylor County, where she married Oliver Howard, Sr. on August 15, 1937. Mrs. Howard lived in Abilene most of her life. She was a homemaker and a retired bookkeeper, having been self-employed.

Mrs. Howard partnered with her husband, a former president and chairman of the board of Citizens National Bank in Abilene, in many civic activities, including Hendrick Home for Children. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Abilene.

She was predeceased by her husband on December 15, 2003; a son, Donald A. Howard; a brother, Robert Reddell; and a sister, Ruth Clary.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Edna Cole of Abilene; daughter-in-law, JoAnne Howard of Dallas, granddaughter, Holly Walker and husband, Blake, and great-grandson, Jackson Walker, all of Phoenix, AZ, and granddaughter, Whitney Howard of Dallas; son, Oliver W. Howard, Jr. and wife, Debra, of Wylie, Texas, grandson, Oliver W. Howard, III of Austin, grand-daughter, Jennifer Hawley and husband, Troy, and great-grand-children, Isabella, Oliver, and Elijah Hawley all of Collin County, Texas, and grandson, Aaron Howard and fiancée, Aimee Medina of Lewisville, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 18, at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South, with Danny Minton officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Aaron Howard, Brett Perry, Troy Hawley, Carl Israel, Jr., Bud Howard, and Steve Smith.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Donald Howard Scholarship Fund at Hendrick Home for Children, PO Box 5195, Abilene, TX 79608.
