Obituary for Bobby "Bob" Joe Dukes
Bobby Joe “Bob” Dukes, 64, of Wheeler, died Thursday, January 31, 2019, in Pampa, Texas.

Services will be held 2:00 pm on Monday, February 4, 2019 in the Wheeler Area Church of Christ in Wheeler with Shawn Zybach and Jimmie Hays, officiating. Burial will follow in Zybach Cemetery in Briscoe.

Visitation will be from 4:30-6:00 PM Sunday, February 3, 2019 at the funeral home.

Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Wheeler.

Bob was born April 26, 1954 in Shamrock to Clyde “Red” and Evelyn Hall Dukes. Bob married Peggy Lee Thompson in 1979. Bob was a member of the Wheeler Area Church of Christ and his favorite day of the week was Sunday when he could go to worship with his family. He loved to sing and had a beautiful bass voice. Bob was better known as Dad and Papa. Bob was a farmer and rancher for most of his life. He ran Allison Implement for several years. He was a member of the Allison Volunteer Fire Department, Allison School Board and Parkview Hospital Board for a number of years. He enjoyed supporting Monty and Glenda in all their school activities and vacationing with his family every chance he got. Later in his life he worked as a security guard for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice at the Clements Unit in Amarillo. After retirement he moved to Wheeler, TX. He loved going to the mountains every summer, a good fish fry, and spending time with his grandkids. If able Papa was at every basketball and football game and school event for Jalynn, Lane and Gage. Bob will be missed dearly by his friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his step mother, Anna Dukes; and a brother, Jimmie Dukes.

Survivors include a son, Monty Dukes and wife Jennifer of Allison; a daughter, Glenda Pinion and husband Josh of Wheeler; 2 brothers, Johnnie Dukes and wife Nelda of Fort Worth and Clyde Dukes, Jr. and wife Jane of Briscoe; 3 sisters, Dianna Chatham and husband Tom of Half Moon Bay, California, Cindy Starnes and husband Jim of Destin, Florida, and Adeline Hammer and husband Jack of Panhandle; 3 grandchildren, Gage, Lane, and Jalynn; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

The family requests memorials be sent to the Wheeler Area Church of Christ.
