BARTON, CLARA ELIZABETH - passed away peacefully on January 13, 2014. She was born May 10, 1920, in Olpe, Kansas. Mrs. Barton was a member of Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church. She earned her B.S. degree in home economics from Kansas State and later worked at Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company in Manhattan, Kansas, and at Littlewood Antiques in Knoxville.

Preceded in death by parents, George and Mary Hellmer; husband, James H. "Jim" Barton, six brothers and four sisters.

Mrs. Barton is survived by sons, James D. Barton and wife Meryl of Jenkentown, PA, Michael J. Barton and wife Tina of Concord, MA, Joseph C. Barton and wife Terri of Mt. Juliet, TN; daughters, Cheryl A. Bales and husband Steve of Knoxville, TN, Mary P. Hitchcox and husband Mike of Summerfield, FL and Dr. Linda J. Barton and husband Dr. Bill Lee of Oak Ridge, TN; grandchildren, Sean and Brendan Barton, Dr. Karen Bales, Dr. Stephen Bales, Matt Bales, Julie Vickery, Kathy Hitchcox, Marianne Hitchcox, Jessie Barton, Andy Barton, Jeffrey Lee, Angela Lee, Jennifer Lee; and great grandchildren, Stella Bales, Irene Bales and Caleb Bales.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 2300 Adair Drive. The funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 16, 2014, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 1041 N. Central, Knoxville, TN, Father John Orr officiating. The interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to American Red Cross or Alzheimer's of Tennessee. Condolences may be offered at www.lynnhurstchapel.com.
