Ms. Celia Mae Montgomery, the daughter of the late Mr. James Purcha and Ms. St. Clair Montgomery. She was born on December 19, 1946 in Orangeburg, South Carolina. Her earthly journey ended on Friday, June 17, 2016. Celia was educated in the public schools of Orangeburg County School District Three. She worked several years as a teacher's aide later Celia moved to Bronx, New York, where she earned her Cosmotology Certificate from Willred Beauty Academy, Bronx, New York. She worked as a licensed beautician for over 30 years serving both New York and South Carolina. She became a member of Live Oak A.M.E. Church.

Celia was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. She was a fun loving and outgoing person who enjoyed cooking and being in the company of others. Celia never met a stranger. She always had a smile on her face. Celia was preceded in death by one brother, James Amous.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories, two daughters, Mechell (Anthony) Williams of the home and Tracey (Omerick Grant, Sr.) Montgomery of Goose Creek, SC: two sons, Russell Montgomery of Ridgeland, SC and Dwayne Montgomery of Holly Hill, SC; seven brothers Jimmy (Gwendolyn) Montgomery of Eutawville, SC, Kenneth Montgomery of Bronx, NY, Paul Purcha of Charlotte, NC, Harry Purcha of Nichols, SC, Dennis (Angela) Purcha of Marietta, NC, and Randy (Theresa) Purcha of Conway, SC, William J. Purcha of Mullins, SC; four sisters Nancy Purcha Barker of Mullins, SC, Maebell (Randolph) Smith of Tabor City, NC, Patsy (Daryl) Crossland and Hawatha (Robert) Bassett both of Conway, SC; two uncles, Thomas (Pearl) Montgomery of Vance, SC and Harry Montgomery, Jr. of Holly Hill, SC; three aunts Ollie Mae Montgomery of Santee, SC and Maggie Montgomery of Bronx, NY and Beulah Jenkins of Providence, SC; A special grandson, Marcus Smalls of Orangeburg, SC; twelve grandchildren, Rakeem Mitchum, My'Kai Barnes, Simone Goodwin, Otazsia Grant, Russell Montgomery, Jr., Rytarious Montgomery, Dayani Montgomery, and Omerick Grant, Jr.; one great grandchild, Rakeem Mitchum, Jr.; a devoted niece Latyro M. Jenkins and cousin Mamie James; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends who admired and loved her dearly
