Professional Football Player. For seventeen seasons (1981 and 1983 to 1998), he played at the quarterback position in the National Football League with the Minnesota Vikings, Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints, Dallas Cowboys and Oakland Raiders. Born Charles Wade Wilson, he made his first impression on the football field during his years at Commerce High School in Texas. He continued on the collegiate level at Texas A&M and was selected by the Minnesota Vikings during the 8th round of the 1981 NFL Draft. In 1988, he distinguished himself when he led the league with a 61.4 completion percentage and achieved Pro-Bowl honors for that year. In 1995, he served as a back quarterback to Troy Aikman and experienced a Super Bowl championship for that season. In 125 career regular season games, he compiled 17,283 passing yards, with 99 touchdowns. After retiring as a player, he began a lengthy career as a coach with the Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboys.
