Neptune, Ewald John Smith, 66, who pioneered the movement which put office of price administration edicts into effect in several local municipalities, died in Fitkin Hospital, Friday after a long illness. Mr Smith was graduated from Cornell University and was admitted to the Bar in 1922. He practiced Law in New Jersey for 22 years. In the 1940"s he served as OPA New Jersey district enforcement Attorney in Trenton and as an OPA regional hearing commissioner in five eastern states. He later moved to Reno, Nev, where he was price Attorney for the OPA"s Nevada district office. He Married Miss Alma M. Gant, daughter of Capt and Mrs I. H. Gant, Bradley Beach. In the First Methodist Church, Greenwich, Conn. He was executive secretary of the Gradley Beach Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Bradlet Beach American Legion Post. He attended the First Methodist Church of Bradley Beach. Mr and Mrs Smith had lived here since 1950. He served in the Navy during WW I He formerly was associated with Thomas F. Shebell's Law Firm, Asbury Park. He was born in Jersey City, son of the late Mr and Mrs Peter P. Smith Sr, Besides his widow, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs Marie L. McVey, Princeton, one brother, Peter P. Smith Jr., Miami and six grandchildren. The Francioni, Taylor and Lopez Funeral Home, Asbury Park, is in charge of arrangements. Internment in Osbornville Cemetery.
