On April 14, 2018 a hero to many was called home to his loving heavenly father surrounded by family. Earl Shoell Carter was born February 13, 1930 to Orval L. Carter and Caroline Shoell Carter in Lindon, Utah. He had 9 brothers and 3 sisters.

Earl served in the Korean War, he loved his country and was proud to serve it. He met and later married the love of his life Shirley Arlene Manwill Carter on October 1, 1953. Together they had 4 beautiful children. They raised their family in Pleasant Grove, Utah. Earl owned and ran Carters Service Station with his father and brother in law Marvin Smith, after his father passed away Earl continued to run the service station until 1992 when he closed the doors.

Grandpa, loved puttering around the house and making grandma crazy. He was known by most as “Grandpa Carter” whether or not you were family.

Earl and Shirley served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at the Lindon Cannery. Earl and Shirley were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple.

He was a man of service and will be missed by many.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother’s Boyd and Dale, also his son in law Randy Rhoades. He is survived by his sweetheart Shirley Arlene Carter of Pleasant Grove, daughter’s Karla Rhoades of Pleasant Grove, son Terry (Nancy) Carter of Pleasant Grove, Brenda (Gary) Carlile of Hurricane and Tonja Carter of Pleasant Grove. Also, 15 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Grandpa loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren, they were his pride and joy. We will all miss his love, sense of humor and stubbornness but, we are so grateful that we can be with him again. We love you Grandpa!

We would like the thank Grove Ward, Hearts for Hospice, April Mcintosh and Britanie Church for all of their help and service.
