On September 1-, 1952 he united in marriage with Betty Brown Wright who survives. To this 66-year union two sons were born: Louie Lee and his wife Lanette Wright and Barry Gene Wright.
Also surviving is his sister, Ethel Jo Elam and grandsons: Sheridan and his wife Mary Wright, Mylan and wife Jill Wright and Louie L. and his wife LeAnn Wright; great grandchildren: Bethany and husband Austin Shearer, Jacob, Bailey, William, Elizabeth, Nathanael, Gabriel and Andrew Wright.
Gene was a veteran of the Korean War, and the owner and operator of Wright & Wright Machinery a John Deere and GMC dealership. He was also a faithful member of the Monticello First Christian Church.
