Shirley Hancock passed from this life on Tuesday morning, January 29, 2019, due to complications from pneumonia.

Born Shirley Evelyn Guiver on April 29, 1939 to Evelyn (Froeser) and Clarence Bert Guiver in Salt Lake City. She had an older brother, Clare, and grew up on T Street in The Avenues, where her family had resided for generations. She attended Wasatch Elementary, Bryant Jr. High, and then East High School, graduating in 1957.

She married Dale S. Hancock on September 26, 1960, and they later solemnized the marriage in the Salt Lake Temple in 1963. They initially resided in Kearns, where they eagerly welcomed their son, Scott, in 1964 and daughter, Shirleen, in 1965. They soon after moved to Hunter (West Valley City), where they raised their family and she resided for over forty years. In 2008, she moved in with her daughter in South Jordan.

She has been a lifelong member of the LDS Church and had served in several callings, including Primary President, Young Women, and Scout Leader. Shirley's primary love was to take care of her loved ones. She adored each of her grandchildren. In her last years, her children and grandchildren were certainly the center of her life. She is also considered grandma to several neighbors as well.

She survived by her son, Scott D. Hancock, grandson, Preston Scott Hancock, and granddaughters, Shiloh Hope and Kaylee Faith Hancock; and daughter, Shirleen Hancock, and granddaughter. Addison Grace Hancock, all of South Jordan. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Clare Guiver III; and husband, Dale S. Hancock.

The family would like to express special gratitude to Encompass Home Health Care for Jed, Janet, and Leah.
