Belinda was born in Pitt County, NC, October 1, 1950, a daughter of the late Hattie Mae (Wilson) and Walter Gardner Sr.
She attended schools in North Carolina, graduated from South Ayden (NC) High School and attended Sacred Heart University of Fairfield, CT.
Belinda was a counselor at the Danbury Federal Correctional Institute prior to her retirement and later became a logistics manager with Miller-Stephenson Chemical Company of Danbury
She served as a former secretary with Community Action Committee of Danbury (CACD) and Harambee Center Inc. of Danbury. She was active member in her community and enjoyed playing softball with various teams, a former daughter of the Carter L. Marshall B.P.O.E of Danbury and a member of the Mt. Pleasant A.M.E. Zion Church of Danbury.
Belinda is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Gardner and Dallas Gardner; a brother, Walter Gardner, Jr.; two sisters, Barbara and Cynthia; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends, too many to mention.
A Home Going Service will take place on Monday, February 4, 2019 at 12 noon in the Mt. Pleasant A.M.E. Zion Church, Danbury.
Interment will follow in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.
The family will receive friends at Mt. Pleasant A.M.E. Zion Church on Monday from 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury is in charge of arrangements.
