Services were held Wednesday, July 14, at First Congregational Church, Park Falls. An Order of the Eastern Star service was held Tuesday, July 13, at the Novitzke Funeral Home, Park Falls. Burial was in Nola Cemetery, Park Falls. She was born Oct. 20, 1901, in Nebagamon. Her parents were Helmer and Marie (Thompson) Peterson. She attended elementary school in Mason, then moved with her family to Park Falls in 1914. She graduated from Park Falls Lincoln High School in 1920. She was then employed as a cashier at Rabenowich Department Store in Park Falls.
She married Ervin C. Hoppe Sept. 5, 1924, in Bessemer, MI. He preceded her in death in 1979. The couple owned and operated Hoppe's Market in Butternut for 33 years. A homemaker, she was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Women's Christian Fellowship of First Congregational Church in Park Falls.
She is survived by a daughter, Carol Hoppe of Park Falls; two sons, John (Corinne) Hoppe of Butternut and William (Jane) Hoppe of Rhinelander; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and three brothers, Henry, Harold and Martin Peterson.
