Shelby Danielle Johnson, 17, of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed from this life Saturday, January 26, 2019 in Oklahoma City.

She was born October 20, 2001 to Patrick and Dana (Fletcher) Johnson in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Shelby was raised in the Tecumseh area and graduated from South Rock Creek School and was currently attending Tecumseh High School.

She was a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, Art Club, Yearbook, Upward Bound, Link Crew, Leadership and University Baptist Youth. She currently worked at Saya Thai Restaurant in Shawnee as a waitress.

Shelby was unapologetically uniquely herself. Her passions were photography, fashion, reading and school. Her family was most important and was the focal point of her life.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandpa, Richard “Opa” Johnson; great-grandparents, Bennie “Great Bennie”, Alene Fletcher, Jim and Georgette “Granny Jet” Kirkland; and great-uncle, John Tarver.

Those left to cherish her memory are her mother, Dana (Fletcher) Johnson of the home; father, Patrick and Molly Johnson of Oklahoma City, OK; twin sisters, Kaitlyn Johnson and Maggie Johnson of the home; grandparents, Rick and Marci Johnson of Tecumseh, OK and John and Debra Fletcher of Tecumseh, OK; great-grandparents, Charles and Patricia Tarver of Tecumseh, OK and Sylvia “Oma” Johnson of Albany, GA; best friend, Jacey Cox; and many loving friends and extended family.

The family has requested that memorial donations be made to the Shelby Johnson Memorial Fund at any Arvest Bank.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 1, 2019 with family gathering to greet friends and family from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home. Service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Tecumseh High School Alumni Building with Pastor James Eustace of Faith Community Church in Shawnee officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

SHAWNEE, Okla. - New details released in a tragic crash that killed two Tecumseh teens sheds light on what reportedly led up to the incident.

On January 26, emergency crews responded to the crash at around 5:10 p.m. near 45th and Aydelotte in Shawnee.

According to an officer's report, released by the Shawnee Police Department on Tuesday, the driver of a Honda "was eastbound on 45th, going east from Chapman," when the driver rear-ended a mustang.

Two Tecumseh High School students, 17-year-old Shelby Johnson and 18-year-old Logan Deardorff, were killed in the crash.
