Daniel Paul Cassidy, 66, a longtime resident of Villa Park passed away Monday, January 28, 2019 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. He was born January 26, 1953, in Chicago the son of Elmer Rae and Frances Ione (Bross) Cassidy.

Daniel was known for his faith in God, his love for and devotion to his family, and his ability to solve complex problems that no one else could. He was a brilliant craftsman. He was a genuine man who made deep connections with people young and old wherever he went. Many children considered him a second grandpa, and far more than his six children called him, “Dad” or “Pops.” He always had room at the table for an extra mouth to feed. If you knew Daniel long enough, he probably had a nickname for you or a jingle he sang about you every time you came around. Daniel's wit was razor sharp. His ear was always poised to listen. His wisdom was sought by many.

Daniel is survived by his six children, Jen Cassidy, Daniel (Jill) Cassidy, Ann Cassidy, Abigail (Ryan) Barnes, Christopher Cassidy, Lillian (Chris) Bodane; five grandchildren, Kathryn and Madelyn Cassidy, and Darren, Raymond and Karina Barnes; his mother Frances Cassidy; his siblings, Sue Cassidy, Kathryn Lundquist, Wesley (Jane) Cassidy, Martha (Carey) Driver, Jonathan (Linda) Cassidy, David Cassidy, Karen (Al) Nuzzo, Rebecca (Gary) Tillman, Frances (Frank) Titoni, Colleen (Jim) Benedetto, Nancy (John) Kopecky, Janine (Rick) DeCoste, Jullene (Steve) Cocozza; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father Elmer, his brother-in-law David Lundquist; and two nephews Steven Cocozza and Robert Targosz.

Visitation will be held 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday, February 1, 2019, at Moss-Norris Funeral Home 100 South Third Street St. Charles, IL.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Wheaton Bible Church 27W500 North Avenue, West Chicago, IL 60185.

Daniel’s children would be honored if you would bring your favorite written memories of their father to the visitation where there will be a basket for collection. Don’t forget to include the nickname or names that he gave you.
