John William Richmond, 79, of Lexington, and husband of Edith Ramsey Richmond passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2019. The son of the late Noah Albert Richmond and Lula Conn Richmond, he was born on November 4, 1939 in Berea, KY. A United States Army veteran, he went on to a 30-plus-year career with the Trane Company. John loved UK Athletics and most of all, spending time with his family. He is remembered for reminiscing and sharing stories. John was a faithful parishoner at Broadway Baptist Church. In addition to his loving wife of 56 years, he is survived by four children; Sandra Richmond of Lexington, Susan Land (Richard Ford) of Lexington, David (Katrina) Richmond of Thompsonville, IL, and Sharon Richmond (R.J. Bragg) of Nicholasville. John is survived by seven grandchildren; Heather Richmond (Billy Halls), Amanda Gambrel, Julie Land, Jessica Richmond-Madden, Stephanie Land, Austin Stephens, and Stetson Richmond. John was very proud of his ten great-grandchildren; Ainsley Yates, Aidon Halls, Mayssa Halls, Zylen Stephens, Jayla Miller, Drayden Stephens, Braylen Miller, Lyric Madden, Lochlan Richmond-Halls, and Daisy Stephens. John is survived by one sister, Mildred Lyons of Cynthiana. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by one brother (Carl) and three sisters (Edna, Mary, and Ruby). Burial will be in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens, Jessamine County, Kentucky.
