Son of John and Mary (Benjamin) Ball.

Warwick town clerk for 12 years.

At the very first Warwick town meeting, held on May 9, 1763 at 9 o'clock, Mr. Ball was chosen as clerk, as a selectman and assessor, as a collector and finally sealer of weights and measures.

James Ball was very involved in general in the affairs of Warwick such as building the meeting house, dividing the land into lots, creating school districts and of course town government.

Dea'n. James Ball deceased May 22, 1797 in the 66 year of his age. Why do we mourn departing friends? Or shake at deaths alarms? Tis but the voice that Jesus sends, to call them to his arms.
