Gladys Mote Hughes, 92, of Greenville, passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2019. She was born in Greenville to the late Luther William and Mamie Simmons Mote and was a member of Tremont Church of God. Gladys is survived by her children, Carol Hughes Slack (Duane), Mike Hughes, and Alisa Hughes Bridger; six grandchildren, Kevin Hughes (Rebecca), Josh Slack (Anna), Anna Slack Chamberlin (Adam), Craven Bridger, Hannah Bridger Finch (Hadden) and Grace Bridger; great grandchildren, Jake and Maggie Hughes and Seth Chamberlin; and a brother, Milford Mote (Wanda). She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, John “J.W.” Hughes; siblings, Willie Mae Riddley, Kathleen Stegall, Willa, Garlin and Preston Mote; and a son in-law, Mark Bridger.
