Margaret B. Maxwell, 94, of Watseka passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Iroquois Resident Home in Watseka.

Margaret was born March 11, 1924 in Sand Ridge on the family farm outside of Piper City, the daughter of John Samuel and Sara Jane (Carmichael) Blevins. She married Clifford Maxwell on June 2, 1946 in Piper City and he preceded her in death on October 29, 1991. She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; four sisters; and one son, Samuel Maxwell.

She is survived by one daughter, Phyllis Jones of St. Robert, MO; six grandchildren, Samuel (Kelli Bronson) Maxwell; Amie (Ed) Tungate, Beth Wilken, Mathugh Wilken, Maxwell Jones, and Katherine Adams; and eleven great grandchildren.

Mrs. Maxwell was a member of First United Methodist Church in Watseka, lifetime member of Order of Eastern Star, and Iroquois County Historical and Geneological Society. She had traced her ancestry back to the 1700’s. She was a realtor for 33 years retiring at the age of 80. Her interests included gathering with neighbor women making quilts by hand. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and flowers especially roses and blue hydrangeas that her son gave her to match her blue eyes. She was a lay leader at the Cissna Park Methodist Church and taught Sunday School. She held fast to her faith and love to read her Bible. Margaret treasured the many friends she met over the years. She was blessed to host many family gatherings and enjoyed her birthday parties. She loved to play euchre, checkers and bingo and was an avid Cubs fan. Margaret was a farmer’s wife and worked side by side with her husband.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday March 11, 2019 at Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Rev. Robert Sabo will officiate. Burial will follow at Brenton Twp. Cemetery in Piper City.

Memorials may be made to Iroquois Resident Home Activities, Iroquois County Historical Society, Iroquois Memorial Hospice, or First United Methodist Church in Watseka.
