Darlene Costley Wood, age 66, of Buford, GA passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2018. She was preceded in death by her father, Dwight Horner and mother, Ruth Hale Horner. She is survived by her husband of twenty-three years, William “Bill” Wood, Buford, GA; step sons, Phil Wood, Cornelia, GA and James Wood, Cleveland, GA; ten grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Bill Aaronson, Ft. Myers, FL; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Rachel Bond, Commerce, GA and Susan and Ricky Turpin, Maysville, GA; special niece, Lisa Warren, Naples, FL; nephews and nieces, Rick and Nuvia Warren, Ft. Myers, FL, David and Kim Warren, Savannah, GA and Joe and Maria Warren, Miami, FL; and several cousins. Mrs. Wood was born July 18, 1952 in Chattanooga, TN. She was a 1970 graduate of Tucker High School in Tucker, GA and attended Georgia State College in Atlanta, GA. She was retired from New York Life Insurance Company with over twenty-five years of service. She was of the Baptist Faith. She was an avid animal lover, very artistic and loved life. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Milton Harris of New Bridge Baptist Church in Gainesville, GA officiating. Interment will follow at Gwinnett Memorial Park in Lawrenceville, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 19th from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to an animal shelter of your choice in memory of Darlene Wood.
