Fred was a self-employed insurance salesman for many years before retiring. He met the love of his life, Mary Jo through mutual friends and they soon were married on June 29, 1974.
In his spare time, Fred enjoyed watching his beloved Pacers, Colts and IU Basketball on TV as well as listening to Gordon Lightfoot and Crystal Gale records, among others. He also enjoyed dogs and cats and would often keep plenty of dog treats on hand to share with neighborhood dogs. Additionally, he had an eye for cars especially Thunderbirds and was proud of his AMC Hornet.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 44 years, Mary Jo (Meyer) Russell; children Christopher Russell and his wife Emily, Elizabeth Russell and her husband Gregory Jenkins, Jennifer Russell, James Russell and his wife Danielle; brother Bill Russell and his wife Taunnie; 6 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and his granddog Daisy.
Services were held Saturday, February 2, 2 pm, at The First United Methodist Church, where he was a long time member, with visitation 12-2 pm prior to the services at the church. According to Fred’s wishes he will be cremated following the services and interment will take place at a later date in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville.
While flowers are welcomed, memorial contributions may be directed to The First United Methodist Church, Mooresville, 900 Indianapolis Rd. Mooresville, IN 46158 or to the Salvation Army of Indianapolis, 6060 Castleway Dr. Indianapolis, IN 46250.
Final arrangements and cremation are entrusted to Carlisle- Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville.
