Jerry graduated from Coleman High School in 1957.
He served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1957-1960.
Jerry married Barbara Daniels on Nov. 2, 1962, at The Divine Providence Catholic Church in Westchester, Ill.
Jerry went on to receive his associate's degree in production agriculture and continued to farm with his wife and children in Beaver for 30 years.
He also drove bus for the Coleman School District for 30-plus years. His favorite bus memories were mentoring the children and bribing them with tic tacs.
Jerry served on the Marinette County Board for 18 years, he was the Wisconsin Dept. of Natural Resources Emergency Fire Warden for 28 years, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and their special project, reinventing the barn.
Jerry is survived by his wife Barbara;
son Jay (Connie) Martens;
daughter Amanda "Mandy" (Scott) Tiemann;
two grandchildren: Connor and Noah;
God-daughter/daughter Kim (Dave) Zak and their son, Jesse and daughter, Hannah, and their four grandchildren;
siblings: Karen (Leonard) Curtis, Russell (Karlene) Martens, Joan (Del) Hannon and Dorothy (Tom) Berth.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers: William "Billy" and Donald "Don" Martens.
Family will receive friends Friday, Feb. 1, 2019 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at Hillside Assembly of God-North on County Q West in Pound. The Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., with Pastor Paul Carlson officiating. Military Honors will be given by the Coleman American Legion.
