John Sobiech

Fraternal funeral services for John Sobiech of 160 Tompkins street, Stapleton, who was killed Tuesday by gas escaping from a stove in his home, will be held tomorrow night in the Pulaski Funeral Home, 200 Jersey street, New Brighton.

A requiem mass will be offered at 9:30 am Saturday in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, New Brighton and burial will follow in St Peter's Cemetery.

Mr Sobiech, who was born in Poland 53 years ago, came to the Island shortly after his arrival in the United States approximately 30 years ago. A carpenter by trade, he was a member of the carpenters' union, the Pulaski Democratic Club, the Polish National Alliance and the Grunwald Society of Stapleton.

His death was termed accidental by Dr Gregory Robillard, assistant medical examiner. Police believe a pot boiled over and put out the burner as Mr Sobiech was preparing his supper.

Surviving are his wife, Pearl; two children, Mrs. Doris Jarusewski and Henry Solbiech and a grandchild.
