CLINTON - Peggy B. (McMahan) Chandler, 86, of 271 Chestnut St., died Thursday, Nov. 20, in Sterling Village, Sterling, after an illness.
She leaves a son; two daughters; her companion of more than 30 years; a sister; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 32 years, Earl E. Chandler, who died in 1979, and two sisters, Dorothy R. McNally and Kay I. McRell.
Mrs. Chandler was born and raised in Clinton, daughter of Scottish immigrants David B. and Rebecca "Rae'' (Carson) McMahan, and was a lifelong resident. She attended local schools.
For more than 35 years until her retirement, she worked as a housekeeper at various area homes.
She was a member of the Clinton Presbyterian Church, and enjoyed knitting and crocheting items, which she would then gift to her friends and loved ones. In recent years, she enjoyed using the computer, which enabled her to connect with relatives, both near and far.
Her funeral will be held on Monday, Nov. 24, with a service at 10 a.m. in the McNally and Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
