Lori attended Dayton schools with the Class of 1972. While just a freshman, Lori met the love of her life, Terry Dobbs. They were married Sept. 8, 1970. On Aug. 1, 1971, Terry and Lori were blessed with the birth of a beautiful baby girl, Amber Renee Dobbs. The family of three moved to Wrangell, Alaska, for a short time, then moved to Junction City, Ore., in 1974, and returned to Dayton in 1976. Their family was complete when their son, Terry Jake, was born on Dec. 17, 1978.
A dedicated homemaker, Lori was a stay-at-home mom while her children were young. She learned to be a great cook and baker, always making wonderful rolls for big family dinners. Her skill and passion for baking and cooking carried on, as she would spend time baking with her granddaughters, a time they cherished with her. Lori was also an avid gardener. She and Terry raised large gardens every year, they canned their produce, made salsa, and shared lots of vegetables, salsa, and produce with friends and family.
Lori enjoyed crocheting and made beautiful afghans for each of her nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. In addition to her homemaking skills, she loved old houses and antiques. She spent many hours stripping and refinishing the floors of her and Terry's home, as well as refinishing many antique furniture pieces.
When her children were older, Lori went to work outside the home. She worked several years at Columbia Cut Stock before moving to Tumac Machinery. Her years at Tumac were very rewarding as Lori loved "her store" and taking care of "her farmers." After the closing of Tumac, she was employed at Tucannon Meats until going to work helping to prepare for the opening of the new Pioneer West store. Most recently she was employed at Jay's Garage and was really enjoying the new job.
Lori is survived by her husband, Terry; her children, Amber Dobbs, and TJ (Lindsay) Dobbs; her mother-in-law, Doris (Bill) Durham; and grandchildren, Haley, Heidi, Daltin, McKenzie, Peyton, and Reagan, all of Dayton. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, at the Dayton City Cemetery. A potluck will follow at the American Legion Hall on East Clay Street, Dayton. Please come share treasured memories of Lori. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Operations Comfort Warriors through Hubbard Rogg Funeral Home, 111 S. 2nd St, Dayton WA 99328.
