A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 30 from 2 PM to 8 PM at the Hoffmann-Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 3860 Asbury Road. Dubuque, IA. A prayer service will be offered at 1:30 PM. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10 AM Thursday, January 31, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Fr. Dwayne Thoman will be presiding. Interment will be at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Sherrill, IA.
Marlene was born on April 9, 1938 in Bankston, IA daughter of George and Mary (Winter) Wolf. She received her education at St. Clements School in Bankston. She married Richard C. Dupont on November 3, 1956 at St. Clements Catholic Church in Bankston. She was a member of Holy Ghost Parish and the Sherrill Catholic Order of Foresters Court 1709.
She dearly loved her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, playing cards, and traveling. She spent many years attending ballgames of her husband, children, and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Richard, three children, Robert (Joan) Dupont, of Dubuque, Kathy (Kent) Culbertson, of Sherrill, and Daniel (Tammy) Dupont also of Dubuque; seven grandchildren, Becky (Jason) Cornwall, Adam (Kristy) Dupont, Melissa Dupont, Jason (Jayme) Culbertson, Jeremy (Megan) Culbertson, Nick and Alex Dupont; eleven great-grandchildren; a sister, Jeanette (Merlin) Brimeyer, of Sherrill, brother George “Nicky” (Doris) Wolf, of Dyersville, brother-in-law Frank Connolly of Epworth, brother-in-law Jim (Hilda) Dupont of Sherrill, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary Wolf, a sister, Ardella (Ray Ernzen) Connolly, and father and mother-in-law Wilfred “Bill” and Alice Dupont.
In lieu of flowers, a Marlene A. Dupont Memorial Fund has been established. The family would like to thank Stonehill Care Center and Hospice of Dubuque for their loving care of Marlene the past year.
