Benajah Berger, known to his friends as Benage, a life-long resident of Jefferson Township, died at his home in Westboro, this morning @ 8 o'clock, following an illness of several months with heart disease. During the late winter he was taken ill, and the heart disease, from which he had suffered for many years, became more intense and for many weeks there had been no hope of his recovery. However, he had been able to walk about the house, not being confined to his bed. For a number of years Mr. Berger was a very successful farmer, devoting a great deal of his time to the marketing of potatoes, and was known to many people in Wilmington & other towns of the county, where he delivered potatoes to residences every year. In recent years, however, he resided in Westboro, and had operated a taxi business, making daily runs between Midland & Westboro and St. Martins. The loss of his lifetime friend and close associate, his brother-in-law, W.A. Hudson, some months ago, was a severe shock to Mr. Berger, & he mourned constantly for the man who had been his companion since boyhood. Mr. Hudson, died only a short time ago very suddenly from heart disease in Westboro.Mr. Berger leaves a widow, well known as Olive Berger, prominent in the Friends Yearly Meeting; and 1 son, Guy Berger, who has been residing in Florida for the last year. He was a member of a large family, several brothers & sisters still residing in this & neighboring counties. Funeral services will be held at the Friends Church in Westboro. Rev. Emma Townsend & Rev. Frank Milner of Leesburg will preside. He was the first death of the Berger Family of 15 children.
