Born July 13, 1931 in Wyandot County, he was the son of Edward A. and Elnora C. (Peter) Albus. He married Dorothy A. Riedlinger on November 28, 1953 in St. Peter Catholic Church in Upper Sandusky. Dorothy survives in Carey. He is also survived by a daughter, Susan M. (Barb Kurth) Treece of Toledo; two grandchildren: Kristine L. (Robert) Valentine and Neil A. Albus; four great grandchildren: Connor, Riley, David and Kaytlyn Valetine; a sister, Virginia A. (Ronald J.) Miller of Carey, a brother in-law, Wayne R. Smalley of Carey, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Wayne A. Albus; a daughter in-law, Nannette K. Albus, and three siblings: Harold E. Albus, Marcella Albus and Hilda M. Smalley.
Earl was a life-long grain and livestock farmer in Wyandot and Hancock County. In his spare time, he enjoyed working for his nephew, Steve Smalley, at Greenbriar Catering and Florist. It was a way for him to do what he did best, socialize. He loved spending time with family and friends and making people laugh. He enjoyed attending farm sales, flea markets and Frederick's IGA pecan rolls.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation and the Knights of Columbus.
Family and friends will be received 2-4 and 6-8pm on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at STOMBAUGH-BATTON FUNERAL HOME in Carey. A scripture service will be at 1:45pm at the funeral home prior to visitation.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00am on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey, with Rev. J.R. Hadnagy, OFM Conv. officating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Carey, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Carey Honor Guard.
