Mrs. Bertha Cody born April 20, 1942 departed this life on Saturday January 26, 2019 at the Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard, Kentucky being 76 years old. Bertha was born in Farler, Kentucky the daughter of the late James Monroe Coots and the late Mallie Wells Coots. Other than her parents, Bertha was also preceded in death by Three Brothers, Lloyd, Jim, and Elmer Coots; Five Sisters, Martha Combs, Lula Caudill, Mary Stacy, Ollie Meeks, and Janie Cody. Bertha was a Member of the Trinity Holiness Tabernacle and had worked 28 years at Dennis Wooton Elementary working with the special needs children.
Mrs. Bertha Cody leaves the following relatives to cherish her memory: Husband of 58 years, Lester Cody of Viper; Three Sons, James Douglas Cody of Viper, Chester Cody & Jamie of Wabaco, Mark Cody & Tracie of Happy; Three Daughters, Linda Wilder & Charles of Ellabell, Georgia, Donna Dillon & Dan of Viper, and Lucy Coots & Wayne of Viper; Brother, Ernest Coots & Susie of Hickory, North Carolina; Special Adopted Daughter, Bonnie Caudill & Larry of Viper; Grandchildren, Brina & Gene Davis, Lora & Caleb Campbell, Alexandria & Brandon Sturgill, Dustin & Kennedy Coots, Addison Coots, Nancy & Omar Feltner, Chester Jacob Cody, Amanda Campbell, Brianna Cody, Ashley & Eddie Sherman; Great-Grandchildren, Emma, Will, Edison, and Ava; Also a host of many other relatives and friends survive.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Bertha Cody will be conducted on Tuesday January 29, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home with Rev. Duane Allen and Rev. Charles Wilder officiating. The Interment will follow in the Farler Cemetery located at Viper, Kentucky. The Visitation will be at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home on Monday from 6-9 P.M.
