David Bryan Garrison, 60, of Folkston, GA went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 24, 2019. He was a son of the late Wayne R. Garrison and Betty Jane South Garrison. A native of Buncombe Co., he was a veteran of the U.S. Army. David was the fifth child and the fourth son to Wayne and Betty Garrison. He always tried to emulate his brothers, but things didn't come as easy for him. He was a quiet and reserved child. David always listened intently and tried to please everyone. He was saved while attending VBS with his brother, Mark, at Grassy Branch Church in east Asheville. David loved the outdoors and enjoyed working with his hands. He especially liked building model cars for his entire life. He loved his family and never missed an opportunity to be with them. He was loyal, kept his word and was always willing to give a helping hand! David always maintained a sweet pleasant spirit and his smile was infectious. Some of his favorite things to do was, read his bible, watch NASCAR every Sunday and his Michigan wolverines. David was always a hard worker no matter what he was doing. Two of David's favorite bible verses were Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God. And Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your father which is in heaven. He would never end a phone conversation without saying "love ya!" David is survived by his sisters; Judith Ann Rupert, Donna, Stephanie, and Sara. He is also survived by his brothers; Wayne and his wife Claudia, Randy and his wife Melba, Gregory and his wife Hilda, Mark and his wife Anna, and Kenneth Garrison. He is also survived by a special friend, Cathy Lambert. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, January 28, 2019 at Newfound Baptist Church Cemetery. There will be a visitation at Grace Funeral Home, 1401 Patton Ave, Asheville, NC 28806 one hour prior to the service.
