Bernice B. Rees, 81, of Idaho Falls, died May 24, 1990 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of heart failure.


She was born November 11, 1908 at Jameston, Idaho, to Oscar Burke and Sarah Elizabeth Humphries Burke. She grew up and attended schools in Taylor and Jameston. On September 11, 1929 she married Hyrum Lavon Rees in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They made their home in Venice, California for seven years and then returned to Idaho Falls where she lived until the time of her death.


She attended and graduated from Excelcis School of Beauty. She was a homemaker. She was an active member of the LDS Church and had served as a temple officiator for 18 years. She enjoyed growing flowers, gardening, and painting.


She is survived by her husband; one daughter, Ann R. Heath of Hayward, California; one son, David Rees of Sandy, Utah; one sister, Anna Simpson of Iona; two brothers, Oscar Burke and Gene Burke, both of Jameston; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.


Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at the Idaho Falls 17th Ward LDS Church.
