Suggested edit: Elizabeth Mandeville was a victim of the Bussey Street train disaster on March 14th, 1887 in Boston, Massachusetts. 37 people were killed. A bridge over which the train was traveling collapsed. This accident transformed bridge building rules and regulations in the U.S. One of the results was a requirement that all train bridges be inspected at least once every two years which wasn't being done previously. Many defective bridges were found and repaired resulting in the saving of countless lives. It can be said that Elizabeth Mandeville's death along with the other 36 people killed that day was not in vain.
