BELEWS CREEK, NC ~ Harvey Odell Nelson, 84, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday afternoon, January 23, 2019, at Stokes County Nursing Home.
Harvey was born on May 11, 1934, in Forsyth County to the late Harry Thomas and Lillie Susan Jones Nelson.
He was retired from Wackenhut Security as a night watcher.
Harvey loved his job and enjoyed working as much as he could.
In addition to his parents, Harvey is preceded in death by his two brothers, Jackie and Wilber Nelson; and a sister, Roberta Mabe.
Harvey is survived by his seven children: Harvey G. Nelson (Marie), Hal Nelson (Deanne), Teresa Nelson, Vicky Weatherman (Rick), Wendy Burton (Toby), Kelly Adams (Marty), Robert Nelson (Debbie); two sisters: Barbara Mabe and Peggy Caudill; two brothers: Jerry Nelson and Norman Nelson; 14 grandchildren: Justin, Heather, Tommy, Lynn, Nikki, Brittany, Brittany, Matthew, Kristin, Michael, Benjamin, Ashley, Jama, and Jeremy; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
There will be a 2:00 pm funeral service held on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at Refuge Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Refuge Baptist Church.
