JoAnn Gray Sims, 87, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 7:59 PM Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Luther Manor Nursing Center in Hannibal.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Rev. Tim Goodman will officiate. Burial will be at Antioch Baptist Cemetery in Hannibal.

Friends and family are invited to JoAnn's Life Celebration at a visitation that will be held from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM Monday, January 28, 2019 at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home.

JoAnn was born January 23, 1932, in Hannibal, MO to Richard T. and Goldie Williams Gray.

She was married to DeForrest L. "Junior" Sims, Jr. on June 10, 1949 in St. Louis, MO. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include four children, Pam Bounds (Mike) of Hannibal, MO, Sidney Rule (John) of Hannibal, MO, Gail Park (Randy) of Hannibal, MO, and Dorian Stewart (Tim) of Hannibal, MO; one daughter in law, Carol Sims; one sister, Marilyn Wisdom (Bill) of Wentzville, MO; 14 grandchildren, Matthew Bounds (Rebecca), Jeremy Bounds (Rebecca), Monica Kertz (Brian), Tracy Nichelson (Larry), April Palillian (Gino), Jami Leonard (Cody), Amber O'Donnell (Jimmy), Brett Park, Jessica Devereux (Joseph), Erica Sims (Bobby Davis), Chase Sims, John Anderson (Carisa), Phillip Anderson, and Olivia Stewart; and 18 great grandchildren, Ronan Bounds, Bryce Kertz, Skylar Kertz, Adrya Nichelson, Landry Nichelson, Corbyn Nichelson, Bella Palillian, Aspen Palillian, Rocco Palillian, Ava Palillian, Jackson Leonard, Molly O'Donnell, Jimmy O'Donnell, Joey Devereux, Hayden Sims, Hunter Sims, Lillian Anderson, and Maci Anderson.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, Michael Allen Sims, one son, DeForrest L. "Skip" Sims, and two brothers, William Gray and Robert Gray.

JoAnn was a farm wife and helped on the farm often, even driving tractors and grain trucks. She also worked as a bookkeeper for Sims Garden Center in Hannibal, MO. JoAnn later worked at Printex and then retired as a clerk from K-Mart.

JoAnn enjoyed reading the newspaper and doing crossword puzzles. A St. Louis Cardinal's baseball fan, Mark McGuire was her favorite player. JoAnn took pleasure in Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays with her family. Pinwheel cookies, Folger's Coffee, country music shows, and the sounds of Merle Haggard and George Jones were a few of JoAnn's favorites.

Most of all, JoAnn cherished the time she was able to spend with her family. No matter where she worked or where she went, JoAnn was loved by all because of her feisty, funny nature.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association.

Pallbearers will be Mike Bounds, John Rule, Randy Park, Tim Stewart, John Anderson, Brett Park, Kent Hammock, and Matthew Bounds.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy Bounds, Phillip Anderson, and Chase Sims.
