Anna Rosetta Halverson was born c.1792, most likely in Philadelphia. She attended Mme Rivardi's school for women, also in Philadelphia, around 1810. She married William French (1786-~1844) on 16 April, 1812 at Christ Church, Philadelphia. Anna was a noted concert singer of popular song, billed as "Mrs French", giving performances from 1818 to 1825. The venues located from as far north as Montreal, and in Eastern cities such as New York, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Richmond, New Orleans, and Lexington, Kentucky. She gave performances to benefit many charities such as Orphan Society of Philadelphia, New York Orphan Asylum, Boston Female Asylum, and Roman Catholic Benevolent Society. Anna gave birth to 6 children between 1813 and 1827:Marion Blackwell French 1813-1890; Major General William Henry French 1815-1881; Henrietta Maria French 1816-1893; Frederick Halverson French 1819-1881; George Edmund Blake French 1823-1894; Rosa Cornelia French 1827-1903. Anna Rosetta died at age 36 on 5 October 1828.Burial place as yet undiscovered for both Anna Rosetta and her husband William French.
