Joseph Almond Whitaker, 68, of Columbus, GA, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Muscogee Manor. A service to celebrate Mr. Whitaker's Life will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA, 31907. The family will greet family and friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The Reverend Charles R. Hays will be officiating. Mr. Whitaker was born July 8, 1950 in Columbus, GA, son of the late Hollis Cary Whitaker and Mae Imogene Drake Whitaker. He was an upholsterer for Valley Rescue. Mr. Whitaker loved his family and was a friend to anyone he came in contact with. Most importantly, he loved his Lord. Mr. Whitaker was a faithful member of Edgewood Assembly of God. Survivors include his loving wife, Martha B. Whitaker; Two sisters, Glenda Massey and her husband, Jack and Barbara Kelley and her husband Charles; special aunt, Margie Spurlock; sister in law; Judy Whitaker; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews great-great nieces and nephews, who he all claimed as his babies.
