Mr. Donald "Don" Wayne Haynes, 65, transitioned from this life on Thursday, January 24, 2019 in the loving arms of his wife. He was born on September 16, 1953 in Rowan County to Willis Monroe Haynes and Zula Mae Cottingham Haynes. Don was an active member of Narcotics Anonymous where he was able to give love to hundreds of people and show them a new way to live. He earned his infinity tag with 22 years clean. He retired from Norandol with 32 years of service and was a member of the Steel Workers Union. Don was an avid fisherman, animal advocate, biker dude, and lover of all things outdoors. Above all, Don adored his wife and loved his family dearly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by mother-in-law, Mary Lou McKenzie and brother, Lonnie Haynes. Surviving are his wife, soulmate, and partner, Leigh McKenzie; his children, Autumn Rodgers (Jeremy) and son, Broc Baldo; four grandchildren, Abram, Daegan, Odessah, and Adeline; one brother, Randy Haynes; father-in-law, Julian McKenzie; and a sister-in-law, Brook McKenzie. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pat Kirkman officiating. Interment will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm to 1:45 pm on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at the funeral home.
