MUSCATINE, Iowa - Lee N. Lane, 95, of Muscatine, passed away on Monday, January 21, 2019, at Lutheran Living.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 28, 2019, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Susan Bantz will officiate. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 until 11 a.m. on Monday, January 28, 2019, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Muscatine Humane Society.
Lee was born on August 15, 1923, in Maryville, Tennessee, the son of John F. and Buelah Hill Lane. He married Iona M. LaRue on September 4, 1945, in Rock Island, Illinois. She preceded him in death on September 1, 2017.
He worked at Russel Loy Foundry in Durant as a core maker and retired as a supervisor. After his retirement, he was a professional fisherman, fishing until he was 80 years old. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting with his family. He was a true 'tinkerer' and was always doing something with his hands. He loved watching and participating in wrestling and boxing. He loved sharing stories with his great-grandson, Nicholas, as soon as Nicholas could talk.
Those left to honor his memory include his sons, Jim Lane and wife, Penny, Steve Lane and wife, Debbie, Rick Lane, and Ron Lane and wife, Dawn, all of Muscatine, Randy Lane and significant other, Tami Small, of Letts, and Todd Lane and wife, Rochelle, of Muscatine; 14 grandchildren, Karen, Nikki, Travis, Stacey, Stevie, Lorrie, Kiley, Rick Jr., Ryan, Jason, Justin, Daniel, Jordan, and Cody; 26 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Jane Lane of Muscatine.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a daughter-in-law, Cindy Lane; a sister, Delores 'Sissy' L. Lane; and two brothers, Cecil and John C. Lane.
