Born and raised in Paterson, he lived in Wayne for 20 years before moving to Monroe Township in 1997. Mr. Schanz served in the Army during World War II. He was a quality control inspector for Bendix Corp. in Little Falls for 30 years before his retirement in 1985.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Emily (Kabay) Schanz, and his three daughters, Dorothy Picazio and her husband, Victor E., of Monroe Township, Nancy Coss and her husband, Robert, of Wayne, and Joan Nagel and her husband, Michael, of Boca Raton, Fla. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Dana Armstrong, Darren Picazio, and Brian and Tricia Coss, and five great-grandchildren.
