Harlan was often thought of as the life of the party and loved to laugh big. Whether he was at the Macksburg Skillet Throw, having a few beers at the local tavern with family and friends or being home, Harlan loved life. His love for his family and friends will remain with us forever.
Harlan was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Sharon Emory. He is also survived by his son Kevin Howe (Lori) of Adel, IA, daughter Sandra Johnson (Mark) of Windsor Heights, IA, daughter Sheryl Fink (Rick) of West Des Moines, IA and son Kirk Howe of Des Moines, IA, 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 25, 2019, with services to follow at 11:00 a.m. all at the Westover Funeral Home, in Des Moines, Military rites to follow at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery-Adel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Iowa.
