Tommy Lee Murphy

Tommy Lee Murphy, 57, of Dothan, passed away Thursday January 17, 2019 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 1 pm Saturday January 26, 2019 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends 12-1 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Columbia City Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing.

Tommy was born January 20th, 1961 in Dothan, AL. In his earlier years he resided in Cowarts and was a graduate of Northview High School. He was employed with Farley Nuclear Plant and later with the paper mill. More recently, he was employed as an EMT with Abbeville Rescue. Tommy was an avid fisherman and really enjoyed flying his drone. He was an animal lover and enjoyed spending time with his family especially his only granddaughter, who will be two next month. He was passionate about gardening and was known for growing some of the freshest vegetables and most beautiful beds of flowers. He was a hobby handy man who could repair just about anything and had a talent for wood work, but also enjoyed the freedom and peace that riding his motorcycle brought him.

He is survived by; his daughter, Kimberly Murphy and her fiancé Kaleb McNeal; his granddaughter, Hadley Rivers McNeal; his son Jared Murphy; his former wife and very good friend Deborah Murphy; his brothers-in-law, Lamar Akins and his fiancé Heather Corbin, and Jamie Whitehead; his sister, Sylvia (James) Blanteno; his nephew, Scott Blanteno; several special friends, Becky Duke, Alicia Parsons, Kaylee Parsons, Jayson Parsons (who called him uncle Tommy,) and oldest Frank Griffin.
